Player Retention Highlights for PSL 10

Lahore Qalandars 

Lahore Qalandars has kept Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Platinum category. Furthermore, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf’s names have come up for possible inclusion in the Platinum category. Generally, teams are not allowed to have three players in the Platinum category, so Haris Rauf might be placed in a lower category. Nonetheless, this time, Fakhar Zaman has been retained in Platinum along with Shaheen.

Islamabad United 

Islamabad United has kept Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, and Imad Wasim on their roster. These players had outstanding performances last season, with Shadab making a notable impact with both his batting and bowling, while Naseem Shah showcased his skills as a bowler. At present, these are the primary Pakistani players who have been retained by Islamabad United.

Multan Sultans

In an unexpected turn, no Pakistani players have been kept in any category, not even the Platinum category. It seems that Karachi Kings is looking to assemble an entirely new team and may be considering someone like Kane Williamson for the captaincy role. Such as Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, and Islamabad United, which have consistent rosters.

Peshawar Zalmi 

Babar Azam and Saim Ayub will remain in the Platinum category for Peshawar Zalmi, and both players will receive the same salary as Babar Azam.

Quetta Gladiators 

Quetta Gladiators has kept only one local player, Mohammad Amir, in the Platinum category. Interestingly, Sarfaraz Ahmed, who previously occupied a Platinum position, is no longer part of the team. I suspect he might now be categorized under either the Silver or Emerging categories in the wicketkeeper role. This season, Quetta appears hesitant to keep many Pakistani players. If they choose to retain anyone else in the Platinum category, it will probably be Rilee Rossouw.

Peshawar Zalmi Trade Rumors 

Mohammad Haris may be traded to Islamabad United in exchange for fast bowler Naseem Shah as Peshawar Zalmi aims to strengthen their fast bowling after a difficult season. If the trade occurs, Haseebullah Khan is expected to assume wicketkeeping duties for Peshawar Zalmi. Discussions are still ongoing and nothing is confirmed yet.
